Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Ideal for passionate animal lovers eager to launch a grooming career.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, maintain salon cleanliness, and promote sales. Ensure humane conditions, respond to pet health issues, and assist across departments while following all policies.

Daily Tasks Include:

• Greeting clients and handling reservations/check-ins
• Conducting reminder calls and updating records
• End-of-day cleaning and maintenance
• Selling merchandise to boost salon metrics

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Must handle physical demands like lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in a pet hair-filled, noisy environment. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, holidays essential.
