Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence in our Clovis, California location.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with sick/injured pets or other store duties as needed.

Daily Operations

• Engage pet parents in-person, phone, and at register for exceptional experiences.
• Follow maintenance checklists for humane, sanitary conditions.
• Upsell merchandise and services to boost salon metrics.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Must handle physical demands like lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and working in wet, noisy, pet hair-filled environments. Flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, holidays essential.
