Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Promote salon sales, recommend wellness solutions, ensure salon cleanliness, and assist with pet safety protocols. Flexibility to support other store departments as needed.
Daily Operations
- Execute grooming services safely and efficiently
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through personalized service
- Maintain hygiene standards and perform end-of-day cleaning
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Strong organizational skills, attention to safety, and ability to stay composed under pressure required. Proficiency in computers, excellent communication, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a pet-filled environment essential. Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
