Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe technical skills in grooming while delivering exceptional pet parent experiences and upholding our vision for pet care excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and maintain client records.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales, and drive salon metrics.
- Ensure salon cleanliness, pet safety, and immediate action for sick/injured pets.
- Assist in other departments and participate in store culture.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Strong communication, organization, and ability to work under pressure required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and working in a pet hair environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays essential.
