Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Columbus, Ohio, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Uphold our vision, mission, values, and strategy while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Recommend wellness solutions, promote merchandise, and drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, identify sick/injured pets for vet transport, and assist other departments as needed. Follow all policies for a safe, humane environment.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling under pressure, strong communication, organizational prowess, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a wet, noisy, pet hair-filled setting. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
