Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level position builds foundational skills while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
• Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and conduct reminder calls while maintaining client records.
• Recommend wellness solutions, merchandise, and services to boost salon sales and meet targets.
• Ensure salon cleanliness, humane pet conditions, and immediate action for sick/injured pets.
• Assist in other store departments and follow all policies for a safe, welcoming environment.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a wet, noisy pet environment with depth perception required.
