Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart's Grooming Academy, you'll receive hands-on guidance from expert stylists. This position focuses on delivering top-tier salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety, and building lasting relationships with pet parents in a fast-paced retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and promote salon sales.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, and client records while maintaining salon cleanliness.
- Ensure humane conditions and immediate response to pet health issues.
- Assist across departments and participate in our culture of belonging.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. You'll need physical stamina to lift 50+ pounds, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong communication, and composure under pressure. Proficiency in computers and unwavering attention to pet safety are essential.
