Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Conroe, Texas location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role involves learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging with pet parents and ensuring positive experiences. Obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll uphold our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, and ensure salon cleanliness. Identify and address sick/injured pets, assist other departments, and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, organization, communication, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, wet, noisy environment with pet hair. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays required; composure under pressure essential.
