Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from industry-leading professionals through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Under supervision, you'll learn best-in-class grooming techniques while ensuring pet safety, salon cleanliness, and exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to launch a grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and rebookings.
- Assist in other store areas, respond to pet health issues, and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs), and composure under pressure. Computer proficiency required.
