Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Coquitlam, BC, you'll receive hands-on training from industry-leading Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Gain safe technical skills in bathing, grooming, and standalone services while upholding pet safety, store cleanliness, and exceptional pet parent experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, client records, and reminder calls.
- Recommend wellness solutions, merchandise, and services to boost salon sales and meet targets.
- Maintain salon sanitation, perform daily/end-of-day cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Identify and respond to sick/injured pets, assist other departments, and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek passionate individuals with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, computer proficiency, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and depth perception.

- Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays (experience)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and maintain composure under pressure (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing under PetSmart standards
- Recommend health/wellness solutions and merchandise to pet parents
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, client records, and reminder calls
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon sales, achieve targets, and assist other departments as needed
