Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role involves hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences while upholding company values.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls.
- Recommend wellness solutions, sell merchandise, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain salon cleanliness and report sick/injured pets immediately.
- Assist other departments and participate in company culture initiatives.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs required. Flexible schedule for evenings, weekends, holidays essential.

- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety daily
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist other departments and follow all company policies
