Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Council Bluffs, Iowa, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role involves learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging with pet parents and ensuring positive experiences. Successful completion of PetSmart’s Grooming Academy unlocks this position, where you'll uphold our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-ins/check-outs. Recommend wellness solutions, promote salon sales, maintain cleanliness, and assist with sick/injured pets. Flex to other store departments as needed while following all policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, organization, communication, and composure under pressure. Proficiency in computers required. Physical demands: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, work in wet/noisy environments with pet hair. Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays essential.
