Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming after completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Under supervision, you'll deliver best-in-class salon services while building safe technical skills. This position emphasizes pet parent engagement, salon operations, and upholding PetSmart’s vision for exceptional pet care in our Courtenay location.
Key Responsibilities
Key duties include performing full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and teeth brushing per PetSmart standards. You'll greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-ins/check-outs. Maintain salon cleanliness, recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, and ensure pet safety—escalating issues like sick pets immediately. Flexibility to assist other departments is essential.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply), but full training is provided post-Salon Academy certification. You need computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for long periods, and handle pets safely. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication are critical for success.

- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
