Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Crystal City, Missouri, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a skilled Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls. Recommend wellness solutions and merchandise to boost sales. Maintain salon cleanliness, ensure humane pet conditions, and respond to sick/injured pets. Assist other departments and follow all policies.
Daily Impact
Build trust with pet parents through positive interactions, safe handling, and personalized recommendations, contributing to salon productivity and store success.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, holidays required. Computer proficiency essential.
