Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety, parent satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational skills for a rewarding grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, and conduct check-in/out procedures.
- Recommend wellness products and services to enhance pet health.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions daily.
- Drive salon sales through promotions and exceptional service.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required – you'll ace our technical exam and Salon Academy. Bring strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential, along with pet passion and computer proficiency.

- Excellent written and verbal communication (experience)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair environment (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, nail trims, and grooming services
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness and pet safety standards
- Promote salon services and merchandise to meet sales targets
- Assist in other store departments as needed
