Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level position builds foundational skills while contributing to store operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
- Enhance pet parent experience through greetings, consultations, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and reminder calls.
- Drive salon sales by recommending merchandise, services, and wellness solutions.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues immediately.
- Assist other departments and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling required.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (experience)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and handle physical demands (experience)
Responsibilities

- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
