Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under supervision of expert stylists, mastering bath, brush, full grooming services, nail trims, teeth brushing, and more. This position emphasizes pet safety, customer satisfaction, salon operations, and sales growth in a fast-paced retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services per PetSmart standards while building technical skills.
- Engage pet parents: greet, consult, recommend services/products, handle reservations and check-in/out.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane pet conditions; perform daily maintenance.
- Drive sales by promoting wellness solutions and achieving salon metrics.
- Ensure pet safety, respond to health issues, and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a pet-hair-filled, moderate-noise environment. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays required.
