Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Danville, Virginia, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a skilled Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
Core Grooming Duties
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Develop technical skills that exceed expectations while ensuring pet safety.
Customer Experience
Greet pet parents, answer questions, manage reservations, conduct check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and rebookings. Recommend wellness solutions and merchandise to boost salon sales and achieve targets.
Salon Operations
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation using daily checklists. Identify and address sick/injured pets, assist other departments, and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible availability required.
