Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master bathing, brushing, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, and salon operations while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe grooming skills and recommend wellness solutions to pet parents.
- Handle client interactions: greet pet parents, manage reservations, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls.
- Maintain salon hygiene, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Drive sales by promoting services and merchandise to achieve targets.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. You'll need physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure. Computer proficiency and passion for pets are essential.
