Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Dawsonville, Georgia location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while delivering positive experiences for pets and their parents. Obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll build safe technical skills under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Under guidance, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, reservations, check-ins/outs, and client records. Maintain salon cleanliness and pet safety, promote sales to hit targets, and assist other departments as needed. Ensure humane conditions and immediate action for sick/injured pets.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), organizational skills, attention to safety, and strong communication. Physical demands include standing, lifting 50+ lbs, working in wet/pet hair environments with moderate noise.
