Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services under supervision, build technical skills, and ensure pet safety while delivering exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers ready to launch a rewarding grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and make reminder calls.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; handle sick/injured pets immediately.
- Recommend wellness solutions, upsell services/merchandise, and drive salon sales targets.
- Assist in other departments, uphold company values, and participate in our Belonging culture.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Successful candidates demonstrate pet handling expertise, customer service prowess, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
