Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in Dearborn, Michigan, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in providing best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Advance to Pet Stylist upon successful completion of training.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, maintain client records, and promote services to drive salon sales. Uphold cleanliness and humane conditions, respond to pet health issues, and assist across store departments as needed.
Daily Operations
- Conduct check-ins/check-outs and reminder calls
- Recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs
- Perform end-of-day maintenance and sanitation
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate composure under pressure, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds in a dynamic environment with pet hair and moderate noise. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
