Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Denham Springs, Louisiana, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver top-tier salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a certified Pet Stylist.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, maintain client records, and recommend wellness solutions. Ensure salon cleanliness, pet safety, and sales growth while assisting other departments as needed. Respond swiftly to pet health issues and follow all company policies.

Daily Tasks Include:

• Conducting check-in/out procedures and reminder calls
• Upselling merchandise and services
• End-of-day cleaning per maintenance checklists
• Team lifting for pet handling (up to 100+ lbs)

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; must pass PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, and composure under pressure required. Flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays essential. Physical demands include standing, lifting 50 lbs frequently, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.
