Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Denton, Texas location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role is perfect for passionate animal lovers eager to learn industry-best grooming techniques through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Uphold our vision of exceptional pet care while building skills in a dynamic retail salon setting.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents with personalized recommendations, manage appointments, maintain salon hygiene, ensure pet safety, and drive sales to meet targets. Assist across departments and respond swiftly to pet health needs.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Greeting clients and handling reservations
- Performing check-in/out procedures
- Cleaning and sanitizing grooming areas
- Promoting merchandise and add-on services
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate composure under pressure, strong communication, organizational prowess, and physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts). Flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays essential. Proficiency in computers and passion for pets required.
