Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Located in Dickson City, Pennsylvania, this position offers a pathway to a rewarding career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to meet targets, maintain salon cleanliness, and ensure humane conditions. Assist with sick/injured pets and support other store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate safe technical skills, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Strong organizational, communication, and detail-oriented abilities required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a wet, pet hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise.
