Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level position focuses on mastering safe grooming techniques while delivering exceptional salon services. Uphold our vision of pet safety, cleanliness, and outstanding pet parent experiences in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop technical skills meeting company expectations while ensuring pet safety.
- Engage pet parents: greet, answer questions, manage reservations, check-in/out, and recommend wellness solutions.
- Maintain salon sanitation, perform daily cleaning, and respond to pet health issues.
- Drive sales through merchandise recommendations and salon promotions to hit targets.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, composure under pressure, and computer proficiency. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled, moderately noisy environment. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays required.
