Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety, parent satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational skills for a rewarding career in pet grooming.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments via phone and in-person, and drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable cleanliness and humane conditions, respond to pet health issues, and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
PetSmart prioritizes successful Grooming Academy completion and safety certification. Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply). Ideal candidates demonstrate composure under pressure, organizational prowess, strong communication, schedule flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical capability to lift 50+ lbs in a dynamic, pet-filled environment.

- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair environment (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, and sanitary services per PetSmart standards
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist in other store departments and follow all company policies
