Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Dunkirk, NY location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role involves learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging with pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. Obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, this position upholds our vision of pet safety, cleanliness, and exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon sanitation, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with sick/injured pets or other store duties as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Requires flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand extensively, and work in a pet hair-filled environment. Strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure essential, plus computer proficiency.
