Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety, parent satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational skills for a rewarding career in pet grooming.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and upsell services/merchandise.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and record-keeping.
- Maintain impeccable cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; perform daily maintenance.
- Ensure pet safety, respond to health issues, and assist other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
PetSmart seeks enthusiastic trainees with prior grooming experience (preferred; technical exam may apply). Key requirements include PetSmart Salon Academy completion, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), and strong communication. Physical demands involve standing, lifting 50+ lbs, and working in a pet-hair-filled environment.
