Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional service to pet parents and ensuring pet safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and maintain client records.
- Recommend wellness solutions and promote salon services to meet sales targets.
- Uphold salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions per maintenance checklists.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in a pet hair environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays essential.
