Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in East Brunswick, New Jersey, you'll train under experienced Pet Stylists in our state-of-the-art Grooming Academy. Learn industry-leading techniques for bathing, brushing, nail trims, and full grooming services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional customer experiences. This entry-level role builds foundational skills for a rewarding career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, and provide personalized recommendations.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions daily.
- Drive sales through service promotions and merchandise upsells.
- Monitor pet health, respond to issues, and assist across store departments.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required – complete our Salon Academy for certification. Preferred: basic grooming knowledge (technical exam may apply). Must have strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting. Flexible availability essential.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (experience)
- Capacity to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair/wet environments (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, nail trims, and grooming services
- Recommend health/wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness and pet safety standards
- Promote salon services and merchandise to meet sales targets
- Assist in other store departments as needed
