Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master bathing, brushing, nail trims, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, and salon operations while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services per PetSmart standards, including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and immediate action for sick/injured pets.
- Support store-wide duties and embody PetSmart’s culture of belonging.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply), but no prior completion required—earn it through our Academy! You need flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, composure under pressure, and strong communication/organizational skills. Computer proficiency is essential.
