Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) receives hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. You'll learn industry-leading grooming techniques while engaging with pet parents and ensuring positive experiences. This entry-level role emphasizes pet safety, salon cleanliness, and customer service, with opportunities to advance upon successful completion of training.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, and uphold the highest cleanliness and humane conditions. Assist with sick/injured pets, store maintenance, and other departments as needed while following all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays required. Proficiency in computers, excellent communication, and physical ability to stand, lift 50+ lbs, stoop, and handle pets are essential.

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
