Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master bathing, brushing, nail trims, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, customer satisfaction, salon hygiene, and driving salon success while upholding PetSmart’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services per PetSmart standards, including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and promote services/merchandise for sales growth.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and perform end-of-day maintenance; ensure humane conditions and immediate action for sick/injured pets.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, client records, reminder calls, and rebookings with exceptional service.
- Assist other departments, participate in company culture, and adhere to all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply). You must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key traits include flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, composure under pressure, physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping), computer skills, and strong communication. Passion for pets and organizational prowess are essential.
