Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our El Cajon, California location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role involves learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive experiences. Obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll contribute to store cleanliness, pet safety, and salon success under supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Under guidance, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon sanitation, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with sick/injured pets or other departments as needed. Uphold company policies for humane conditions and pet safety.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a wet, pet-hair environment with moderate noise.
