Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master bathing, brushing, nail trims, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, and salon operations while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client consultations, reminder calls, and rebooking to enhance pet parent experiences.
- Respond to pet health issues, assist other departments, and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate composure under pressure, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical stamina to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential, along with computer proficiency.
