Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in El Paso, Texas, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a certified Pet Stylist.

Key Responsibilities

Core Grooming Duties

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.

Customer & Sales Focus

Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Promote salon sales, rebook services, and maintain client records to drive productivity.

Salon Operations

Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions in the grooming area. Identify sick/injured pets for immediate vet transport and assist other departments as needed.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling required including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
