Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in El Segundo, California, you'll receive hands-on training from industry-leading Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering grooming techniques, ensuring pet safety, and delivering exceptional service to pet parents under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and promote salon sales.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, reminder calls, and maintain client records.
- Uphold salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; perform daily maintenance.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key traits include physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs), composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency in computer applications required.
