Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver exceptional salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
- Drive pet parent experience through greetings, consultations, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and reminder calls.
- Recommend wellness solutions, sell merchandise, and promote services to achieve salon sales targets.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues immediately.
- Assist other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, computer proficiency, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a pet-filled environment.
