Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Escondido, CA location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role is perfect for passionate animal lovers eager to learn industry-best grooming techniques through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Uphold our vision of exceptional pet care while building skills in a dynamic retail salon setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
- Enhance pet parent experiences through consultations, reservations, check-ins, and personalized recommendations.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane conditions for all pets.
- Drive sales by promoting services, merchandise, and wellness solutions to achieve targets.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. You need strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and working in a pet-filled environment. Proficiency in computers and passion for pets are essential.
