Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Evansville, Indiana, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while delivering positive experiences for pets and their parents. Uphold our vision of pet safety, salon excellence, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, recommend wellness solutions, and drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable cleanliness, ensure humane pet conditions, and respond swiftly to any pet health issues. Assist across departments as needed and follow all policies.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Conducting check-ins/outs and reminder calls
- Upselling merchandise and services
- End-of-day salon maintenance
- Team lifting up to 100+ pounds
Experience & Skills
PetSmart Grooming Academy completion required. Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam possible). Excel in fast-paced settings with strong communication, organization, and pet-handling skills. Be flexible with evenings, weekends, holidays; physically capable of standing, lifting 50+ lbs, and working in wet, noisy environments with pet hair.

- Identify and address sick/injured pets, transporting to vet as needed
