Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet care excellence. This entry-level position shares store cleanliness duties and emphasizes pet safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls.
- Recommend wellness solutions, sell merchandise, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain salon sanitation, handle sick pets, and assist other departments.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling, organizational skills, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and working in a pet hair environment.

- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness and pet safety protocols
