Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe technical skills and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
- Handle pet parent interactions: greet, answer questions, manage reservations, check-in/out, and rebook appointments.
- Maintain salon sanitation, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane conditions for all pets.
- Drive salon sales through merchandise recommendations and service promotions.
- Assist with sick/injured pets and collaborate across departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), organizational skills, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.
