Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is perfect for animal enthusiasts ready to launch a grooming career. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master safe, high-quality grooming services while delivering exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position emphasizes learning, pet safety, salon operations, and sales growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care under supervision.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and upsell services/merchandise.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and record-keeping.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane pet conditions per checklists.
- Ensure pet safety, respond to health issues, and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, computer skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
