Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while ensuring pet safety, salon cleanliness, and exceptional pet parent experiences. Obtained after completing academy training, this position supports store operations and sales goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Under supervision, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
• Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, reminder calls, and maintain client records.
• Recommend wellness solutions, promote merchandise/services, and drive salon sales to hit targets.
• Uphold highest cleanliness and humane conditions; perform daily maintenance and end-of-day cleaning.
• Monitor pet health, take action on sick/injured pets, and assist other departments as needed.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled, moderately noisy environment.
