Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services while prioritizing pet safety, parent satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational grooming skills with supervision, leading to full Pet Stylist advancement.
Key Responsibilities
Under guidance, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable cleanliness, monitor pet health, and assist across store departments while embodying our Belonging and Recognition culture.
Experience & Skills
Pet grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply); must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling, organizational skills, and passion for pets. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and working in a pet hair environment.

- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair environment (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing under PetSmart standards
- Recommend health/wellness solutions and merchandise to pet parents
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, client records, and reminder calls
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety daily
- Promote salon sales growth and achieve productivity targets
- Assist other departments and follow company policies
