Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage with pet parents and their pets, delivering best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a skilled Pet Stylist.

Location & Schedule

Based in Foothill Ranch, California, this position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
• Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
• Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls while maintaining client records.
• Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales, and drive salon metrics.
• Ensure salon cleanliness, pet safety, and immediate action for sick/injured pets.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, communication, organization, attention to detail, and composure under pressure. Physical demands: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, work in wet/noisy environments with pet hair.
