Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Located in Fort Collins, Colorado, this position offers a dynamic start in pet care with growth potential.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, ensure salon cleanliness, and respond to pet health issues. Assist other departments as needed and follow all policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled, wet environment with moderate to high noise. Flexible schedule for evenings, weekends, holidays essential.
