Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Fort Smith, Arkansas, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Succeed in the Academy to advance your career in pet care.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with sick/injured pets or other store duties as needed.

Daily Operations

• Engage pet parents in-person, phone, and at register for exceptional experiences.
• Perform maintenance and end-of-day cleaning per checklists.
• Upsell merchandise and services to boost salon metrics.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; complete a technical exam if applicable. Must finish PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key traits: composure under pressure, organizational skills, strong communication, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a wet, noisy, pet hair-filled environment.
