Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Fremont, California location, you'll receive hands-on training from experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Ideal for animal lovers eager to launch a career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, maintain client records, and drive salon sales. Uphold cleanliness and humane conditions, assist with sick/injured pets, and support store operations as needed.
Daily Operations
- Greet clients, handle check-in/out, and conduct reminder calls.
- Promote merchandise and services to meet sales goals.
- Follow all company policies for safety and quality.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs required. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays essential. Thrive in fast-paced, pet-filled environments with moderate to high noise levels.
